Learning Blackboard Changes

Today, I've been working with learning how Blackboard works - that is the changes that have been implemented in Blackboard - which brings to mind the constant struggle between the good and bad of technology: the constant move forward of technology to improve and the inability to master most things because of how fluid technology is.

Technology always seems to be moving forward - and despite the fact that people are the ones who create and update the technology it's also the people who can't keep up with it.

While ironic - it's not unlike our relationship with God.
Yes I know that sounds like a really big stretch - but it's true. The more we get to know who God is and how vast he is, the more we learn the less we know. The significant difference is that God doesn't change and well - technology does - almost constantly. God stays faithful to Himself, we - being finite simply learn and discover deeper and different portions of his character. Technology - well it's never faithful, not even to itself sometimes.

So, now I need to get back to Blackboard and find out what's changed, what's stayed the same and what wasn't there that is there now and what was there that's gone. With God, he's the same yesterday today and forever. Amen.

Work from today

I'm really excited that I've been able to mesh together items from Wimzi, Feedburner, Blogger and other Web 2.0 technologies.

The great thing about use of these technologies with Blackboard as a base is that other tools th at provide much better granularity, form, function and ease of use allow me to enhance what I do as a teacher teaching about and with technology.

Wimizi allows me to provide a non-authenticating, but functional AIM window for student users who have AIM usernames to chat directly with me when they go to the Announcements section of the course, so long as I'm logged in with my AIM credentials else where.  It also provides a great means of showing if I'm somewhat available, which is yet another means whereby students can contact me if they have questions about assignments, class material or are having an issue with technology directly.

Feedburner is basically the display mechanism that provides a face to the blog posts I deposit through a OS X Blogger widget.  I use BuzzBoost to create the HTML code necessary for posting within the page.

Now if I can just find some code to embed here to stream the video stream from the camera on my laptop - that would be great!

Enter a title for the class here

Post relevant information about how the course went once the class has met, reflecting on what was shared, what was learned and what questions students may have had, along with issues that may still need to be covered in the next class session.
